We recognize that certain skills may be obtained other than through in-class training experiences. This process is designed to allow the organization to:
· Allow employees or contractors to receive credit for existing skills and abilities that are described in the objectives of training courses.
· Keep records of employees and contractors that have been waived from specific training.
· Make training records, including waiver records, available to the appropriate people for consideration in assignments.
· Accurately identify training needs as part of an organizational training tactical plan.
Specifically, this process documents how our training group receives, reviews for approval, and tracks Training Waivers
This process applies to all Training Requirements identified in the Training Requirements.

· Training needs of the organization or of the engagement have been identified in the Training Plan.
· Objectives are identified in each training course.
· An employee or contractor and their supervisor feel the employee or contractor already has the requisite skills and abilities described in the training objectives and the employee or contractor would not significantly improve their performance by taking the training.
4. Submission of Training Waiver Request
· Name: {the Employee or Contractor that the Training Waiver is being requested for}
· EmpID: {of the Employee or Contractor the Training Waiver is being requested for}
· Course ID & Course Title: {of the course requesting to be waived}
· Training Objectives: {list all objectives found in the course contract}
· Statement of Ability:
By submission of this request I certify, as the manager -or- contractor sponsor {select one, delete the other} of the individual, that the individual referenced is able to perform the objectives listed above.

· The Employee or Contractor obtained these skills and abilities by:

The Supervisor/Sponsor shall:
· Copy the bullets and bold texts listed under Required Information (see above) into the body of an email and replace the bracketed text with the appropriate responses.
· Use the email subject line Training Waiver Request for {individual} {course code, course title}
For example the subject line: Training Waiver Request for Sally Smart IIT020221 How To Mentor
· Send the completed email to the Training Mailbox.
4.3 Timeliness of Submission/Response
· Requests shall be reviewed and approved/denied by the Training Group within 5 working days of receipt of complete submissions (see Required Information and Submission Method above) unless prior agreement has been made with the Training Group.
· The Training Group shall return requests to the submitter for more information if all the required information is not provided. This may delay the approval/denial process by an amount equal to the time needed to re-submit the completed request.
· The Training Group shall respond to the submitting manager via an email reply indicating whether the request has been approved or denied. If denied, the response shall indicate the reasons for the denial.
· It is the responsibility of the submitting Supervisor/Sponsor to inform the employee or contractor for whom the request was made of the outcome of the request.
5. Training Waiver Request Tracking
· Training Waiver Requests under review shall be stored in the Training Waivers being reviewed subfolder of the Training Mailbox.
· Upon receipt of a request, an entry shall be made in the Training Waiver Tracking Spreadsheet capturing the required information as submitted by the Supervisor/Sponsor.
· Status of these submissions shall be maintained in the Training Waiver Tracking Spreadsheet.
· The following status types shall be used as described:
o Approved When the request has been approved by the Training Group. This should also trigger a reply to the training waiver request indicating the approval.
o Assigned When the request is under review by a member of the Training Group. The Training Rep column should indicate the assigned rep.
o Cancelled When the request has been rescinded without approval or denial.
o Denied When the request has been denied by the Training Group.
o Unassigned When the request has been received but no Training Group Rep has been assigned yet.
· Upon approval the assigned Training Group Rep shall:
o Reply to the training waiver request email indicating the approval.
o Store* the approved Training Waiver Request email response in the Training Waivers Approved Repository.
· Upon denial the assigned Training Group Rep shall:
o Reply to the training waiver request email indicating the denial and the reasons.
o Store* the denied Training Waiver Request email response in the Training Waivers Denied Repository.
· Upon Cancellation the Training Group Rep, or any Training Group Rep if none has been assigned yet, shall:
o Delete the cancelled Training Waiver Requests from the Training Mailbox.
o Reply to the Training Waiver Request email confirming the cancellation.
* The file name format for storing the Training Request Waiver shall be:
o TW-{Course ID}-{EmpID}-{optionally the employees or contractors Last, First)
o Where:
§ TW is the actual prefix FTW for Training Waiver
§ EmpID is the EmpID of the employee or contractor for whom the request is being made
§ Course ID is the six-digit Intel U Identifier for the course
§ Employees Last, First is an optional descriptor of the employees or contractors last & first names
o Example: TW-019746-12345678-Smart, Sally
· A submitted Training Waiver Request is Approved, Denied, or Cancelled
· The Supervisor/Sponsor receives a reply from the Training Group that the request has been Approved, Denied, or Cancelled
· The disposition of the Training Waiver Request is recorded in the Training Waiver Tracking Spreadsheet.
· Record of the request is stored in either the Training Waivers Approved Repository or the Training Waivers Denied Repository.
